The Port Huron Blitzkrieg got a superb performance from pitcher Ronnie Vis, but the Salt Lake City Buzz still won the game, 3-2. Vis threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Dave Davis picked up the save, his 11th. The Blitzkrieg, now 26-45, have lost 4 in a row.

Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Juan Martínez's at-bat with two out in the top of the 13th was crucial. The Salt Lake City left fielder reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

During his postgame press conference, Buzz manager Jay Smith told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
