Port Royal pitcher Lawrence Tate had a large part in his team beating the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jussi-Pekka Hostikka, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. Hamilton has now lost 4 straight.
Greg Hilton had a big 2-run double for the Disaster in the bottom of the third inning. With Port Royal leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Martin Roach, who is tied for 3rd in the 3AAA in quality starts with 9, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Disaster ahead, 4-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Port Royal manager Miguel Aguilar.
