McGuire goes 3-for-5, Leads Marlins to Win
The Ft. Myers Marlins beat the Port Royal Disaster, 9-3, at Ballpark of Port Royal. The Marlins got a fine performance from shortstop Jim McGuire, who went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The 9th-place Marlins now have a win-loss record of 36-40.

Ft. Myers used a well-timed hit by Bayanai Quindiagan to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Marlins ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Port Royal manager . "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
