Pawnee pitcher Raph Liberato did his part in helping his team beat the Port Royal Disaster, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 7 innings, Liberato surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Geoffrey McBride got the save, the 10th for him this season.
Pawnee used a well-timed hit by Andrew Smith to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the ParksNRec ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Liberato.
The 10th-place Disaster now sit at 33-43.
