Hamilton Earn 6-1 Victory at Monster Field
|
The Hamilton Thunderbirds downed the Vermont Lake Monsters, 6-1, at Monster Field. Stellar pitching by Hong-bo Liu had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the 3AAA with a 7.9 K/9 rate, handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Liu. He threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Stan Harrell. With the win, the Thunderbirds are 22-55.
Hamilton used a well-timed hit by Jon Branch to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Feels good to get the job done," Liu said after the game.
