Patriots Tag Voodoo with 3-1 Loss
|
Boston Patriots starter Jim Everhart turned in a top-notch performance against the New Orleans Voodoo at The Voodoo Lounge. The result was a win for the Patriots, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Everhart surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Lawrence Wood earned the save for Boston, his 9th.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bill Castro? The Boston first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Patriots on top, 1-0. For the game, Castro had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Makes our job easier," said Castro, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
With the win, Boston goes to 20-19, while the Voodoo fall to 20-19.
