Fur Traders Win with Late Heroics
The Tacoma Fur Traders downed the Virginia Beach Whales, 2-1, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Stellar pitching by Kent Nelson had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The win takes Tacoma to 2-0.

The Fur Traders got a clutch hit from shortstop Todd Davis. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to left, to win the game for the Fur Traders.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Nelson said in his postgame press conference.
