Maisanaba Helps Buzz Defeat Thunderbirds, 8-2
|
The Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 8-2. First Baseman Oliver Maisanaba deserved a large share of the credit. Maisanaba went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5 for the Buzz. The winning pitcher was Dave Davis. He tossed 113 pitches over 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits. The last-place Thunderbirds have lost 4 straight games.
Salt Lake City used a clutch at-bat from Álex Torres to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Buzz ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Torres.
