|
Hamilton wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Martin Roach, falling to the Ft. Myers Marlins, 3-1. Roach threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball for the losing team. Ft. Myers reliever Marcus Lucas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sam Malone was saddled with the loss. At 43-43, the Marlins find themselves in 7th place in the Menard's AAA.
Ft. Myers used the timely hitting of Mutsuhito Nakashima to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Marlins on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Hamilton manager Jesús Garces. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
