Hialeah first baseman Michael Smith had a good game, even if his team did not. The Dodos dropped a 6-5 decision to Hamilton at Dodos Ballpark. Smith went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Thunderbirds improved to 31-55.

Had Joe Kramer not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Kramer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Thunderbirds.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Thunderbirds manager Jesús Garces. "This one was nice to get."
