Sacramento pitcher Dustin Burgess did his part in helping his team beat the Montreal Machine, 1-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner was Burgess. He threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Lance Leslie. Jack Hill sewed up the save, his 3rd.

The Machine had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Redlegs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Ángelo Carrasco came to the plate. Carrasco hit a solo home run on a 2-2 sinker from Montreal hurler Lance Leslie. It was Carrasco's 2nd home run of the year.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Carrasco.

The defeat makes Montreal 12-19.
