Syracuse Scrapes Out 7-4 Win
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys licked the Montreal Machine, 7-4. Jason Johnson deserved a big chunk of the credit. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Squirrel Monkeys. Juan González claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-1. The Machine, now 15-22, have lost 4 straight.
Johnson had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 fastball from Ricardo Gamera, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Squirrel Monkeys a 7-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Johnson.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Montreal manager Alfonso Vera.
