The Pawnee ParksNRec had to overcome a fine effort from Syracuse pitcher Pete Scott to win, 2-1, at Whips Ballpark. Scott went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Roger Butt, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. With the win, Pawnee upped its record to 53-38.

Pawnee got a knockout punch from Kenny Johnson. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Johnson.
