Squirrel Monkeys Defeat Marlins, 9-6
The Ft. Myers Marlins got a sterling performance from pitcher John Palmer, but the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys still prevailed, 9-6. Palmer threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Rex Davis notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Syracuse.

Mitsuoki Sugimoto drove in one run for Syracuse. The 31-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the 16th. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Claude Stevens. It was his 19th RBI of the season.

"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Squirrel Monkeys manager Scott Garrison, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
