Philadelphia and Lake Murray duked it out and the Liberty Academy came out victorious.

Philadelphia registered a win at Heron Field by beating the Lake Murray MotorBoaters, 8-6. Pitcher Kasper Berg was one reason why the Liberty Academy triumphed. Bob Emerson was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Alex Carr.

The most important at-bat for Philadelphia came in the top of the 11th inning, when second baseman Truman Reed stroked a 2-2 knuckle curve to center for a run-scoring single, putting Philadelphia up, 6-5.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Berg, "but we got it done."

Philadelphia sits at 1-1 in the early going.
