Men Claim 7-3 Triumph
|
The Florida Men overcame a good performance by Pawnee third baseman Biff Poggi to knock off Pawnee, 7-3, at Whips Ballpark. Poggi was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Rory May got the win, improving to 1-1. He held the ParksNRec to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 4. The Men improved their record to 43-53 by beating Pawnee.
Florida used the timely hitting of Luis Luttazi to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Men on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Luttazi told a Florida Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
