Thompson Excels, But Thunderbirds Win
|
Hamilton took on Plymouth in front of a lively crowd.
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Frank Thompson, the Plymouth Rocks lost to the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 8-6. Thompson was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Hamilton starter Bailey Marshall was credited with the win after throwing 104 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-4.
Joe Cunningham chipped in a 3-run home run for Hamilton in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"We ground out the win," said Cunningham. "That's all that matters."
The win puts Hamilton at 36-62.
