Patriots Lose to Seattle, 3-1
|
The Seattle Rocketeers and Boston Patriots played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring affair between the Seattle Rocketeers and the Boston Patriots, pitcher Artie González was the difference between victory and defeat. The Seattle right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Rocketeers win. González yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-1.
The Patriots had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Rocketeers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old first baseman Ostoja Popovic came to the plate. Popovic hit a run-scoring triple on a full count fastball from Boston hurler Conor Starks. It was Popovic's 5th triple of the year.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Popovic said.
The Rocketeers saw their win-loss record go to 22-22. At the same time, the Patriots fell to 22-22.
