Marlins Score Late to Nip Thunderbirds, 2-1

The Hamilton Thunderbirds got a sterling performance from pitcher Martin Roach, but the Ft. Myers Marlins still prevailed, 2-1. Roach threw 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Frederick Anderson closed it out for Ft. Myers, earning his 16th save. With the victory, the Marlins upped their record to 50-50.
Glenn Page had a direct impact on the outcome. Page contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Ft. Myers up, 2-1.
During his postgame press conference, Marlins manager Ken McDowell told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
