Tim Gilbert had a good game, but he could not keep the Austin Black Mambas from falling, 10-7, to the Salt Lake City Buzz at Spirits Stadium. The Austin left fielder was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 in the loss. Steve Oort picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Dan Gibbs, who leads the 3AAA in wins with 13, was tagged with the loss. Joe Allen earned the save for Salt Lake City, his 4th.

Early in the game, catcher Stan Bynings had a 3-run home run for Salt Lake City. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Buzz on top, 3-0.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Bynings.

With the win, the Buzz improved to 50-50.
