Ken Byrd had a good game, but he could not keep the Norfolk Pajaritos from falling, 11-7, to the Montreal Machine at Norfolk Field. The Norfolk center fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 in the loss. Montreal reliever Dan Cook picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Doug Morgan absorbed the loss. The 6th-place Machine hiked their record to 27-29.

Montreal needed the clutch hitting of Ben Lewis to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Machine on top, 7-6. For the game, Lewis had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We got the victory," said Lewis. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
