Monsters Snatch Late Win
|
Monongahela pitcher Jonathan Lynch did his part in helping his team beat the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Richard McCord, now 2-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Kirby Perkins earned the save, his 11th, for the Monsters.
Monongahela used the timely hitting of John Jaguar to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monsters on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Lynch said.
The third-place Monsters are now 41-33, the Nobles 41-33.
