The Jersey City Tritons could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jeremiah Harris into a win. Instead, the Norfolk Pajaritos prevailed, 6-5. Harris threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Robert O'Reilly, 4-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. The defeat makes Jersey City 43-49.

Norfolk used the clutch hitting of Ken Byrd to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pajaritos ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"It was a test of wills," said Phil Baker, the Norfolk skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
