Syracuse Gets 2-1 Road Win
Bryant Clark never let the Monsters get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Starks to a win, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Clark, now 8-9. He tossed 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 5. Miguel Bruno closed the door for Syracuse, picking up his 17th save of the year.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for William Penn? The Syracuse right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Starks on top, 2-0. For the game, Penn had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Clark.

The 9th-place Starks lifted their record to 42-57.
