Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Tortolita Drummers home opener. Geoffrey Da Costa started for the home team against Denver Butler for the Florence Flamingos. The Drummers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 8-4, Florence. Matt Sheehan, though, was impressive. Denver Butler, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Drummers to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 3. Chris Stroud closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Bobby Harris helped out the Florence cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 1-4.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Harris.
