Plymouth Eliminated from Playoff Contention

The battle by the Plymouth Rocks to claim a playoff position is now over. Despite the team's best efforts, they were mathematically eliminated from the postseason today.
The Rocks have missed the playoffs 11 times in their 13 years as a USSL Triple A franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 6th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2039. Plymouth has won the SL AAA Championship 2 times in their history.

Plymouth Held Hitless by Taylor

Gordon Taylor really did a number on the Plymouth Rocks at Wichita Field -- and that number was zero.
The Kansas Rainbeaus hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Rainbeaus to victory, 5-0.
"This is something special," Taylor said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The right-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 9 and walked 1.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Plymouth manager Tommy Dreamer said when asked about the epic performance. "Taylor was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
This season, Taylor has a 5-3 record with a 4.06 ERA in 11 starts.
