The Port Huron Blitzkrieg faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Peter Smith, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Liberty Reserve Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Smith went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. Port Huron reliever Minoru Sakata picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Peter Smith was saddled with the loss. Luis Montáñez notched his 1st save of the season.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Oscar Morton came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Peter Smith, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Port Huron on top, 3-2.
