Flamingos Come Up Short at Tortolita, 5-4
Willie Scott did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Florence Flamingos from being beaten, 5-4, to the Tortolita Drummers at Drummers Ballpark. Scott went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Norman Ayres picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 6 in 6.2 innings. The win takes Tortolita to 1-1.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Drummers took the lead, 5-3, when 31-year old left fielder Pete Black drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"I was a little disappointed," said Florence manager José Mejía. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
