The Monongahela Monsters beat the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 6-5, in 10 innings, in part because of center fielder Dave Hennessey. He belted 2 home runs. Monongahela reliever Jorge Martínez picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Tong-kyu Ko was tagged with the loss. Héctor González earned the save, his 1st.

Monongahela used the timely hitting of Tom Servo to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Monsters on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame remarks, Servo said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."

The win gives the Monsters a record of 4-1.
