Powers Stars in 5-3 Squirrel Monkeys Win
|
Thanks in large part to second baseman Brett Powers, the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys beat the Monongahela Monsters, 5-3. Powers was 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Rizhean Bonrostro claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The win takes Syracuse to 4-6.
Syracuse took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Robert Lander hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Squirrel Monkeys.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Lander.
