The Tortolita Drummers picked up a win at Liberty Reserve Stadium, taking down the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 4-3. Starting pitcher Carlos Gómez was a big reason why. Gómez, now 2-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. The win takes Tortolita to 9-4.
Tortolita needed the clutch hitting of Ed Mooney to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Drummers on top, 4-3. For the game, Mooney had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Gómez.
