Pride Need Extra Innings to Top Dogfish Head, 5-1
|
The Hartford Pride faced a tough opponent in Milton pitcher Henry Tucker, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Milton Corner Tavern by a final score of 5-1 in 10 innings. Tucker went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Fabian Calkhoven picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Willard Wilhelm was tagged with the loss. The loss puts Milton at 7-7.
Hartford used the timely hitting of Bill Parker to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pride on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Milton manager Brian Burt.
