Liberty Reserves Squelch Pride Offense in Shutout Win
|
Franklin Vaughn pitched a gem to lead Philadelphia to victory over the Hartford Pride, 3-0. Vaughn yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-1. The Liberty Reserves, now 12-4, have been playing some good baseball.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Octávio Sandoval? The Philadelphia designated hitter had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put the Liberty Reserves on top, 2-0. For the game, Sandoval had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel called it "a darn good win."
