Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Austin Black Mambas and the Plymouth Rocks. Austin won it, 1-0. Austin starter Horace Hill was in command. Norman Davis recorded the save for Austin, his 1st of the season. The Black Mambas, with just their 5th win in 17 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Black Mambas had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the third, when second baseman Roy Bell hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Reynaldo Hernández and made the score 1-0, Black Mambas. Bell went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch.

"I was a little disappointed," said Plymouth manager Tommy Dreamer. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
