Fans who congregated at Wichita Field were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys faced a tough opponent in Kansas pitcher Carter King, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Wichita Field by a final score of 4-2 in 11 innings. King went 8.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win went to Ron Jewell in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Jonah Cervantes took the loss.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Diego Guzmán to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Guzmán said after the game.

The win takes Syracuse to 9-8.
