Calgary Lynx starter Pat Butler turned in a sparkling performance against the Nashville Hot Chickens, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Calgary reliever Wan-hua Ping picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Marlon Anderson absorbed the loss. The win takes Calgary to 11-7.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 25-year old second baseman Tim Raines had a chance to be the hero. Nashville pitcher Marlon Anderson wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Raines hit a sacrifice fly. The Lynx had themselves a thrilling win.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Raines. "Just do my job."
