Rivas Rips 2 Home Runs in 6-3 Rainbeaus Triumph
|
The Kansas Rainbeaus topped the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 6-3, at Liberty Reserve Stadium. Kansas first baseman Víctor Rivas was a spark plug for the offense. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Kansas is now 10-11, Philadelphia 8-13.
Kansas got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Millard Carlson. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainbeaus ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Carlson told the Kansas Herald. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
