Florence Field was the site for USSL Triple A action featuring the Florence Flamingos and Monongahela Monsters.
The Monongahela Monsters topped the Florence Flamingos, 8-6, at Florence Field. Monongahela center fielder Tim Anderson was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Monongahela reliever Jorge Martínez picked up the win to move to 2-1. Chuck Knight suffered the loss. Héctor González earned his 4th save, after closing out the game.
In the top of the sixth, the Monsters surged ahead when Anderson muscled his 1st home run of the season. The solo home run off Chuck Knight made it 7-6, Monongahela.
Anderson told the Monongahela Times: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
Monongahela is now 10-14, Florence 12-12.
