The Monongahela Monsters defeated the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 5-2. Third Baseman Grant Cobb deserved a large share of the credit. Cobb went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Monsters. The winning pitcher was Jorge Martínez. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits for the Monsters. Monongahela now has a record of 20-11 with the win.

Smarty Jones had a big 2-run home run for the Monsters in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Monongahela leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Robert Cote, who is tied for 8th in the SAAA in quality starts with 4, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Monsters on top, 4-1.
