The Sioux Falls Red Pandas spoiled a good performance by Florence pinch hitter Lorenzo Gutiérrez, bumping off Florence, 6-4, at The Bamboo Forest. Gutiérrez went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Pierre-Jean Jung snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-0 on the season. Neil Herrera suffered the loss. The second-place Red Pandas now have a record of 21-12.
The Red Pandas got a big at-bat from center fielder Francisco De La Cruz, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Red Pandas on top, 5-0.
De La Cruz told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
