Pajaritos Thwart Liberty Reserves, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Norfolk Pajaritos got the win.
The exploits of catcher Ronald McKenzie, who is rated as the 89th best prospect by BNN, helped the Norfolk Pajaritos defeat the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 4-2. McKenzie went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2. Jorge Deleón was the winner. He's now 5-1. The loser was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Franklin Vaughn. David Adelabu locked down his 15th save.
Carlos Gracía had a big 2-run home run for the Pajaritos in the top of the second inning. With Norfolk leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Franklin Vaughn, who leads the SAAA in wins with 5, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Pajaritos on top, 3-0.
McKenzie said his team "played with focus."
Norfolk has an impressive 25-12 record.
