The Port Huron Blitzkrieg got a sterling performance from pitcher Ronnie Vis, but the Sioux Falls Red Pandas still prevailed, 11-3. Vis threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Edwin Rice snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 3-1 on the season. With the win, Sioux Falls goes to 22-15, while the Blitzkrieg fall to 13-24.
The Red Pandas got a big hit from pinch hitter Werner Hayes. In the bottom of the seventh, Hayes smacked a bases-clearing double off Port Huron pitcher Chris Morris. It was his 1st double of the season. Suddenly, the Red Pandas were ahead, 3-2.
"When you don't put the pitches where they're supposed to be, they hit you hard," said Port Huron skipper Mike Nyberg.
