Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Jim Alexander, who is tied for 5th in the SAAA in home runs with 8, the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves defeated the Norfolk Pajaritos, 5-2. The first-place Liberty Reserves have a one-game lead in their division.

The Pajaritos had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Liberty Reserves going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old left fielder Ángelo Soto came to the plate. Soto hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Norfolk hurler Lorenzo García. It was Soto's 4th home run of the year.

Philadelphia manager Kiril Neuvel commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
