Runs were at a premium in the Florence-Austin matchup.

The Florence Flamingos picked up a win at Florence Field, topping the Austin Black Mambas, 1-0. On the mound for Florence was left-hander Neil Herrera. He played a principal role in the triumph. Florence reliever Joe Adams snagged the win, upping his record to 3-0. Ryan Glover shouldered the loss.

Florence went ahead, 1-0, in the bottom of the eighth. That's when Willie Scott victimized Austin pitcher Ryan Glover with his 8th home run of the season. The solo home run changed the complexion of the game.

"Some games build character," said Florence manager José Mejía. "Like this one."

The 5th-place Flamingos hiked their record to 19-20.
