The Florence Flamingos eked out a 1-0 win versus the Hartford Pride at Florence Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Gustavo Martínez. He was terrific. Florence is now 20-19.

When he batted in the bottom of the ninth, Ryan Plaistowe had a golden opportunity to change the game's outcome. Hartford pitcher Fernando López was determined not to let him. But with one out, Plaistowe hit a sacrifice fly -- and the Flamingos had a suspense-filled triumph.

Florence manager Nick Hoskins commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
