Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Fighting Dachshunds
|
The Fighting Dachshunds grabbed a win, 3-1, at Dog Park in Ellenburg, overcoming a fine effort from Pennsauken pitcher Claudio Cortés. Cortés went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Ambrose McClure in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Tuomi Hattunen took the loss. The win gives the Fighting Dachshunds a record of 12-28.
Had Al Stabb not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Stabb hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Fighting Dachshunds.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Fighting Dachshunds manager Marvin Hayes, "I like our chances."
