Starting pitcher Denver Butler gave the Florence Flamingos a rock-solid effort. The Hector, Minnesota native helped his team defeat the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves, 3-1, at Liberty Reserve Stadium. Florence is in 6th place in the Silver AAA with a record of 20-22.
Florence needed the clutch hitting of Amador Licopit to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Flamingos on top, 2-1. For the game, Licopit had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Denver gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Florence skipper José Mejía.
