Philadelphia Liberty Reserves starter Franklin Vaughn turned in a sterling performance against the Hartford Pride, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. The winner was Vaughn. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Eugene Glenn. This win makes it 5 in a row for Philadelphia.
Chris Cates had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Philadelphia. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Philadelphia in front, 2-0.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Hartford manager Tim Fowler. "But we decided not to take it."
