Fighting Dachshunds Win at Home, 2-1
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds got a strong performance from pitcher Joseph Campbell, who stymied the Port Huron offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Javier Vargas earned the save for Ellenburg, his 9th. Ellenburg raised its record to 25-21 with the win.
Bob Matthews, who is rated as the 25th best prospect by BNN, helped out the Ellenburg cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the second baseman was 1-3.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Ellenburg manager Pedro Rodríguez.
