Squirrel Monkeys Lose as Flamingos Stage Late Rally
The Florence Flamingos knocked off the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 6-5, at Florence Field. Ray Duffey was a big reason Florence won. The first baseman went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reliever Jon Murphy picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Augusto Sousa took the loss. Florence now sports a record of 25-23.

The decisive moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Florence. That's when Jeremy Gutiérrez hit a solo home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Augusto Sousa to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We'll try to build on that win," Duffey told the Florence Gazette.
