Brooks Swings Drummers to 5-3 Win
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Jeremy Brooks, the Tortolita Drummers defeated the Austin Black Mambas, 5-3. Brooks was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Drummers. The winner was Tortolita reliever Horace Cope, now 3-1. The loser was Fernando Rivera. Keizo Baba finished the game for Tortolita and earned his 1st save.
Brooks came through with some timely hitting for Tortolita. With Austin trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Brooks hit a 1-2 slider for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season made it 5-3, Tortolita.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said Tortolita skipper Marcos Costa. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
Tortolita currently is in first place in the Silver AAA at 32-16.
