Fighting Dachshunds Use Late Rally to Win
|
Norfolk got a valiant performance from pitcher Ted Elkins, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds. Ellenburg won the game, 4-2. Elkins threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The defeat makes Norfolk 27-23.
Ellenburg used the timely hitting of Jerry Jaramillo to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fighting Dachshunds on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Jaramillo.
