Monsters Spill Lynx, 6-3
|
Calgary third baseman Tim Raines had a good game, even if his team did not. The Lynx dropped a 6-3 decision to Monongahela at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Raines was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Doug Kellar got the win, improving to 2-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Brad Pratly locked down his 2nd save.
Tied up with the Lynx in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Monsters got a boost from shortstop Brian Coleman. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Coleman saw a 1-2 fastball from Jeff Benson and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Monongahela on top, 4-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Coleman after the game.
The Monsters move to 33-17 with the win, while the Lynx drop to 28-22.
